The first session, "Accelerate cloud journeys with the Azure Migration and Modernisation Program" will be presented by Enu Mittal and Paul Datta, Enu is a highly effective leader & strategist with over 15 years of industry experience managing, leading, mentoring, & delivering complex programs & projects, while collaborating with cross-functional technical teams, senior leadership & other stakeholders. Paul is technologist who has 15+ years of hands-on experience building web products, scaling them and managing cloud infrastructure. The session will cover topics like Innovate rapidly using cloud-native architectures, modernise apps faster with a fully managed Kubernetes service, build apps without provisioning and managing infrastructure using Azure Functions and so on.

The second session, "Build cloud-native applications in Azure" will be presented by Alain Vetier, Sr. Cloud Solution Architect at Microsoft, Singapore. Alain will show us how to focus on building apps, not managing databases, with fully managed open-source databases, effortlessly process massive amounts of data with Azure HDInsight, an easy, cost-effective service for open-source analytics and so on.

In the third session, "Update existing apps to a cloud-first model" by Jay Lee, Cloud Native Global Blackbelt at Microsoft ,Singapore. He will demonstrate how to effortlessly process massive amounts of data with Azure HDInsight, an easy, cost-effective service for open-source analytics and so on. As a seasoned Cloud-Native Specialist, he is helping enterprises embarking on the journey of building cloud-native applications and implementing DevOps on Container platforms in the cloud. With specialised expertise in Java, Spring, and Enterprise Middleware, Jay is a certified Spring Instructor and a public speaker at prominent Java events, as well as a part-time lecturer on JVM internals and performance optimisation. So the common doubt that most of the beginners face is what is Cloud Computing? Cloud computing refers to the delivery of on-demand computing services over the internet. These services majorly include storage, processing power, and software applications. The cloud is essentially a virtual space that consists of a network of servers, databases, and other computing resources. Cloud computing allows users to access and use these resources on a pay-as-per-use basis, without having to invest in expensive hardware or software.

Benefits of Cloud Computing : There are several benefits of cloud computing that make it an attractive option for businesses of all sizes. Some of these benefits include:

  1. Scalability: Cloud computing allows businesses to scale their computing resources up or down as per their need, without purchasing expensive infrastructure.
  2. Cost-Effective: Cloud computing is typically less expensive than on-premise computing.

  3. E-commerce: Cloud computing can be used to host e-commerce web applications, providing businesses with the computing resources they need to process transactions and manage their online stores.
  4. Big Data Analytics: Cloud computing can be used to store and process large amounts of data, allowing businesses to perform advanced data analytics and gain insights into their operations.

Here are some of the common examples of Cloud Computing Platforms with their advantages:

  1. Microsoft Azure: Azure is a cloud computing platform that offers a range of services, including computing power, storage, and analytics. Azure is known for its strong integration with other Microsoft products and services like OneDrive, Teams, Outlook Excel, Power Point, Share Point etc., making it a popular choice for businesses that already use these products.

  2. Amazon Web Services (AWS): AWS is a cloud computing platform that offers a broad range of services, including computing power, storage, and databases. AWS is known for its scalability, flexibility, and reliability and pricing. 

  3. Google Cloud Platform (GCP): GCP is a cloud computing platform that offers a wide range of services, including computing power, storage, and machine learning. GCP is known for its robust infrastructure, scalability, and security features.

  4. IBM Cloud: IBM Cloud is a cloud computing platform that offers a range of services, including computing power, storage, and analytics. IBM Cloud is known for its flexibility, making it a popular choice for businesses with specific requirements.

  5. Oracle Cloud: Oracle Cloud is a cloud computing platform that offers a range of services, including computing power, storage, and databases. Oracle Cloud is known for its strong security features and its ability to run complex workloads.

Each of these cloud computing platforms offers unique advantages, and the best platform for your business will depend on your specific needs and requirements.

There are mainly three types of cloud computing,

  1. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): IaaS provides virtualized computing resources over the internet. With IaaS, businesses can rent servers, storage from a cloud provider, paying only for what they use. This allows businesses to scale up or down as needed, without the need for physical infrastructure.
  2. Platform as a Service (PaaS): PaaS provides a platform for developers to build, deploy, and manage applications over the internet. PaaS providers offer a range of tools and services that allow developers to develop applications without having to worry about platform.
  3. Software as a Service (SaaS): SaaS provides software applications over the internet, eliminating the need for businesses to install and maintain their own software. SaaS applications are hosted on the cloud provider's servers and accessed through a web browser or app.

In addition to these main types, there are also hybrid cloud and multi-cloud platforms that combine different types of cloud computing platforms. Hybrid cloud combines public and private cloud resources, while multi-cloud combines resources from multiple cloud providers. These types of cloud computing platforms offer businesses more flexibility and control over their infrastructure and applications.

Conclusion : Cloud computing is a powerful technology that has transformed the way we store, manage, and process data. It offers several benefits, including scalability, cost-effectiveness, accessibility, security, and reliability, and has several applications across various industries. As more and more businesses move to the cloud, it is important to understand the benefits and challenges of this technology, and how it can be used to drive business success.
